I've been using it for a few weeks now. I wanted to wait a little longer before leaving a review. Those are really good goals and I used tons. The door is great. It has a "locking mechanism" so if you want to leave the door open you can leave it pushed back. It stays pushed back, it's not your typical gate where the door just swings. It won't close again unless you WANT it to close. Door closing is better than most gates. Once you start closing it, it closes and latches. This is good if you have your hands full or if you have older children who don't pay much attention. What really attracts me to these gates is their strength. When the door closes, the gate does not move or does not move. This is one of those gates that "open with one hand." At first we all needed two hands to do it, and that annoyed me a bit. After a few days there were no more problems. It was a combination of getting used to it and I think the gate latch needed to be broken a bit. Anyone (except a 2 year old) can easily operate it with one hand, even my 10 year old. Not that important, but the gate looks very nice. No more those white plastic abominations I had to use as a teenager and a baby.
