Works as advertised. Pretty sensitive to water. What I learned: It looks like there are screws on the lid. no The screws are not installed yet but in a small package inside the block where you install the battery. Screws are not required. Because the water sensor was mounted in a white, flat plastic holder, the alarm didn't stop when it was taken out of the water. When the sensor was removed from the plastic holder, the alarm went off immediately. I left it without the plastic mount. The suction cup might work for you, but the reviews showed it didn't work. I glued a magnet to the back of the lid and attached it to the kettle.
