Purchased primarily so I can clear the top of my RV's slides instead of climbing stairs and walking on the roof. In the fully extended position, as you walk up the stairs, you're bound to bend a little. If you don't have to lengthen it all the way, it still flexes but shrinks a lot. I wouldn't use it for everyday tasks, I don't know if it will last or not. Notice the latches that snap into place on each crossbar and make sure they click into place. It retracts quickly, watch your fingers, which also means it's going to be a nasty fall if it ever fails, so I wouldn't use it on a daily basis, but for my purposes I think it's good in the long run will be.
