Review on IFUN Printing UV Curing Standard Photopolymer by Chris Edgerton

Nice purple but this resin doesn't cure - sticky, sticky prints

I bought this resin because it was the perfect purple color for a project I was working on. I usually mix my own colors using Elegoo ABS-Like and a CMYK dye set, but in this case I went with a ready made solution as the project will likely require perfect color matching in future runs and this purple was perfect. I have followed the instructions. , shook it and cut the files using the iFun settings for my Mono 4K printer. The models printed well and with lots of detail, but after I washed and dried them in ethanol as suggested, they became VERY sticky. I thought it was just new resin and maybe it will be until I cure it. So in AC Wash & Cure plus for my usual 5 minutes (very small prints) and it's still VERY sticky so I wash again and it makes no difference. I try 10 minutes, then 20 minutes. zero change. In desperation, I put them outside in direct sunlight for 24 hours. zero change. sticky. I've tried toothbrushes and more ethanol, I've tried dish soap, I've tried more UV curing. Nothing helped. I've noticed a very bizarre grainy film left on my printer by this resin (see picture) and that's when I thought I'd gotten a bad bottle, that happens and I usually find companies like this helpful. I contacted iFun directly and they told me that an odd balance is normal. When I asked for help or suggestions for constantly sticky prints, they completely ignored me. So that's a $20 lesson. I stick to other brands of resins.

Pros
  • This resin is suitable for most printers on the market and allows for a fast cure even on some low powered screen printers.
Cons
  • boring packaging
