Ideal for permanent installations converting 12 VDC to 5 VDC
This is a great way to get 5 volts DC in the USB form factor from a 12 volt DC power source such as a car battery or deep cycle battery for continuous use. I use one of these to power my home internet infrastructure component (the VoIP box), which I run on a deep cycle battery so I don't lose my phone line during a power outage. So far this DC/DC converter works great and the ability to mount the case with two screws is ideal. An alternative cigarette lighter adapter form factor would be downright clunky and physically unsafe, so I'm glad I found this device.
