Homespun yarn is the only yarn I buy anymore. Here's why I love it. Pros: 1. Interesting texture, thick and super soft2. I'm obsessed with flowers. I just can not get enough. They have 3 different types of colors; painterly, mottled and multicolored tweed. My favorite are painterly colors (like a painted desert) that gradually change and look absolutely gorgeous! Personally, I don't like complicated patterns. Because of the texture and changing colors, I can make something very simple and still come out beautiful.4. Because of the thickness and texture, you won't see knots or yarn changes (or most flaws). Cons: 1. Can be difficult to work with compared to more traditional yarns. The catch is better to have more. I'm currently working with the L hook, but I've made great scarves with the J hook. Because it's wrapped very loosely, little strands often get caught on the hook no matter what hook you use. I'm just used to it, no big deal.2. The yarn sometimes changes thickness throughout the skein (I think especially with painterly colors). This is minimal and you won't notice it on your product, but it's a bit of a concern when you get to the thinner part of the strand. Although it always works. The worst that can happen is that it gets too thin and you just have to cut off the bad and reconnect where it's good. As I said above, you shouldn't see this.3. It's hard to see your seams. Only plan for simple patterns with this yarn. When I first started working with it, it was very difficult for me to stay sharp even when weaving shawls. I've since switched to a basic double V crochet stitch, which makes it much easier to keep stitches consistent. I just watched the YouTube video "How to Crochet Double V Stitch". It makes an interesting looking scarf or blanket and is honestly the easiest way to use this yarn I've found. In general, this yarn is not perfect. However, this is the only yarn I use anymore. The colors are amazing and there is a huge range to choose from (again I suggest going for a painterly color like Painted Desert or Harvest). It's also pretty cheap here on Amazon (at least some colors). Any skein under $5 is a pretty good deal. You can get it cheaper in craft stores if you keep an eye on the sale, but without a sale the price is usually a few euros higher.
