While not cheap, it's essential for those building or simply assembling bikes for bottom bracket installation and adjustment. I work on a lot of bikes for my friends at Burning Man and most of them have been neglected. After removing the bottom bracket for cleaning and oiling, threading it in made reinstallation easier! For my own custom builds it's really good to be able to look at the mount.
