Review on BELL Wireless Cadence ๐Ÿ”” Computer Console 500 - Black by Steven Saric

Bell Console 500 (Battery Replacement Schedule)

Looking for a cheap second bike computer. I have another "cheap" Bell computer that has been very reliable for the last 5000 miles and when I saw this cadence computer at a great price it caught my eye. Bell computers tend to have relatively low "star" ratings, and I'm familiar with their (deserved) reputation for poor instructions. But once you get past them I found them reliable and beat almost anything else for the price. Note that the photo does not show the Console 500 display (note that the unit in the photo is labeled "Cadence Plus" at the time of writing, which I think is a completely different model). There are some user uploaded photos showing the Cadence 500's 4 line display - that's exactly what you get. The device does NOT have any calorie and fat burning functions and it does not have a thermometer as advertised. I have a heart rate sensor that calculates these parameters, so for me there is no significant loss, but I thought others should know. It has a really really good display that includes almost everything related to cadence, speed, time and distance. It was difficult to set up as each battery had to be replaced (this is a 2032 - there are some inconsistencies in the literature). about that). The cadence magnet was tricky to install and I added double sided tape to hold it in place in addition to the zip ties that didn't hold it firmly to my FSA cranks. . All said and done - it doesn't get any cheaper than a computer with two WiFi networks and a good display. We have about 3 feet of snow on the ground right now so I can't comment on how it's handling the road bumps, but I'll let you know if there are any performance or reliability issues.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
