I wanted it for the skylight in the bedroom where my granddaughter sleeps. I didn't like the glare from the bare bulbs standing in the overhead light. This lamp had glass spheres but the bulb was exposed like the light from a ceiling fan. I took off the old balls and just covered the bulbs with these domes. Problem solved. If the lightbulb breaks, it doesn't fall down, but gets stuck in one of these domes. As there were 3 bulbs there is still plenty of light and no glare for a 2 year old to hurt his eyes. Very happy with my purchase.
