I bought this tool for ONE job - I was doing front lower control arm bushings on our 2002 E320. Whether you're just replacing the bushings like I did (and I'm not sure I would do it again) or replacing the new LCAs with the bushings already installed, you'll need to compress the springs. This is a replica of a factory Mercedes Benz spring compressor that sells for over $600. But I'd say it works just as well as a factory tool; After compressing the spring, I was able to remove the spring without removing the lower control arm. All I had to remove was the sway bar and lower shock bolt and I was able to lower the suspension angle enough for the spring to just pop out. And it went back in just as easily, although I needed someone to help me stop the spring from spinning when I let go of the supercharger. the purchase price was well spent.
