Review on 🚲 Capstone 2 Bike Carrier Hitch Mount by Kevin Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Used for fat tires, high performance tires, e-bikes, works well but beware of cheap straps!

UPDATE: The other day I was pulled over at the intersection of a dirt road and a busy road. I had to turn left. I had to wait for a break. Dangerous Quarter. The dirt driveway was also slightly below the level of the main road, leaving about 4 inches facing the main road. I fired my Wrangler and took a sharp left into the lane. I've done that before with no problems. This time, the straps holding the bike's wheels in place failed, and the bike tires fell off the stand. The bike wobbled. I stopped and redid the straps. DON'T TRUST VELCRO TIRE TAPES! Now I'm going to use rope or whatever to tie each rail. Original review: My fat tires fit, but they fit. 4 inches wide. They sit like barley, but that's not a problem. I think it's a good van for the price. He's not weird at all. It just does its job. It's not nice. It just works. (Rad Powerbike Radrover). Tires are attached with Velcro. It doesn't seem very reliable to me, but it works. The entire bike is supported by a bar that goes all the way to the top of the frame, but on my bike the top bar is sloped, but it still works, just not as well as straight bars. However, this doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I've ridden some really bumpy roads and my vehicle is a 3" jeep wrangler with the top down so the bumps never really end while driving. However, the bike remains in place. The manual says not to drive on a very bumpy dirt road, like 4 wheels. I don't go that far. There is a small chance that with sufficient lifting force the rack will be destroyed. My 70 pound bike is pushing the envelope, but here's the bottom line; I know other users who have put 2.70lb e-bikes on them with no problem! I wouldn't do that, but 1 is fine. I also added a long wire lock for more protection in case it flips over on my jeep and goes through the bike's frame. My stand works. Not great and not pretty, but why spend another $200-300 on something nice? My real problem is putting my bike on a rack, but that's not a rack problem at all. If I were carrying 2 regular bikes on one rack it wouldn't be a problem. This is a reliable and simple product that is worth every penny. It also folds up for storage, which I really appreciate.
