just one thing fits shocks, struts and suspension

I put them on an old pickup truck's diamond plate tool box. They were a little longer than the ones that came in the box but I adjusted them to fit. Like others, I couldn't manually compress them. But when I installed them on the lid, they worked like a charm. The mechanical advantage of the lid's weight combined with the placement of the struts made all the difference. Very important.
