I finally found myself in a situation where I needed these snow socks. An icy road with slow traffic and a fresh layer of snow from last night. They were pretty easy to put on and I was able to put them on in about 5 minutes. I've tested it a few times by going 10-15mph downhill and then stepping on the brakes. They worked like magic and allowed me to stop almost immediately. I was very happy with it. When I got to the main road it was a mixture of ice, mud and snow. I knew I shouldn't be wearing them on the sidewalk, but it was still too dangerous to take them off. I kept my speed below 30mph and was able to cover a decent distance in the mud with these socks on. However, as soon as I hit the pavement, my left sock immediately bounced into the wheel well. The socks lasted about 15 minutes. I had to cut them out because they got tangled around the rotor/caliper and I got crushed. 6/10 would buy snow socks again. 0/10 would buy these socks again. They only occasionally take a trip to the mountains. I would buy snow socks again but I would make sure they have ties on the outside to keep the sock from riding in the wheel well. They have no elastics or fabric to prevent the socks from sliding inwards like car socks.
