Suitable for cycling. The padding is slightly different from traditional suede as it seems to be more concentrated on the back. The main thing I heard from most reviews is to size up and buy a size or two bigger. I'm 5'6 and 115 pounds so I usually wear a small. I bought the medium ones and they were fine, but I think the small ones would have worked as well. One thing I would improve is the waist belt. more established bike brands have a wider/thicker waistband that keeps it in place and sits comfortably around the waist, while they just have a regular elastic waistband that can move and isn't as comfortable. For the price, they'll work and get the job done, but there are nicer options if you're willing to pay more.
