Review on Yale Security YRD256 NR 619 Touchscreen Motorized by Josh Thompson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great model but needs a Wi-Fi module ($70) and door and lock alignment adjustment

easy to use. This is Yale's second keyless smart home lock, our first has been working for almost 2 years and runs on a second set of batteries. We installed this newer (4th generation) Yale keyless lock in our mother-in-law's apartment. We use Apple Homekit (+ 3rd party controller app) to control our smart home automation configurations and Apple TV as our hubs. It's a fairly bug-free configuration that everyone in our house has been able to use from their phones/tablets simultaneously and almost flawlessly. This particular Yale lock is NOT "smart home ready", it requires a wireless/bluetooth module which typically costs $60-80, we used the M1 module because it is compatible with the Apple Home Kit. To get the lock to work stably I had to remove the door frame components and screw them back on with the new holes and then use a flat head screwdriver (like a chisel) and a hammer to "clean" the excess wood from the inside. the hole that the locking mechanism slides into. If you feel/see/hear resistance when locking the door manually, you have a problem, turning should be 100% smooth and smooth. easy.
