This cutter is amazing! After 15 years of recycling copper and hand stripping I'm amazed at how much easier they are to use and disappointed that it took me so long to discover them! The machine has a solid construction and is relatively easy to set up. For those who are wondering if this will work for you, I have some advice1. It takes a little time to adjust the cable entry plate to the correct height and blade depth just to cut the insulation from the wire. Don't rush this, it may take some trial and error before skipping the long line! 2. Slowly, smoothly and efficiently. Don't try to pull the cable through quickly or it will skip cuts or pop out of the groove! Nice and slow - it's still faster than manually cutting the cable with a razor!3. If you think any drill will work, it might at first, but you're guaranteed to burn your cheap drill. If you need a drill, make sure you have a good variable speed drill with a higher torque ratio to help with larger diameter wire and thicker insulation.4. The hand crank works well and requires almost little effort! Had to remount it on my board because of the gap the handle has between the base of the unit and the wood mount. Not a huge issue, but I definitely think it would be easier for the manufacturer to change the design so that the handle doesn't bump into what you put it on.5. The blade of the wheel worries me. So far it still feels sharp after running about 1000 feet of large diameter double insulated (fuel/water tight) tubing through the blade. However, it is obvious that they do not last forever, and it would be nice if the manufacturer offered replacement blades here, as they offer the machine. Not sure if other branded blades that are just copies of more famous machines (like this one) will work for this and maybe try to replace mine one day! After all, you can't go wrong with this device! If you are patient and willing to take the time to learn the machine, then this is your choice!
