It's worth it, no question!

Right out of the box I was able to strip this wire with a thick plastic shield. All I did was attach it to the edge of my trailer to hold it and run a wire through it. Of course I had to play with the settings, and for that stiff cable I had to slow down a bit and back out at times because that cable wanted to twist when you ran 40-foot lengths in a row (better if shorter, of course), BUT A LOT BETTER THAN TRYING THE OLE RAZOR KNIFE! Note. I haven't tried it with less than 10 gauge wire, just…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

It was a copy of a good design.

Like all parsers, I tried to save time. This product saved neither time nor money. It doesn't grab the copper and pull it through as intended, and when pulled at 1 inch per minute it never cuts. Save $80 and buy yourself a nice sharp kitchen knife if you're even considering this product. Or buy the original for $175, buying copies never gives a good end result. If they only paid $25 for it I'd be surprised! I built a wire stripper to replace these. From scrap metal it cost me $125 total, it…

Worked well for its price.

This wire stripper was used to strip over 4000 feet of wire from #14 through 4/0, solid and stranded. The smaller strand (#14 - #10) if the depth was not set correctly would cut into the strands and you would end up with small pieces of strands when stripping. The only other thing to do was make sure the wire didn't have any kinks, especially on the smaller wire (#14 - #10) as this could cause the wire to pop out of the groove and dent bring the wire back into the groove . cutting groove…

Where to start?: Hand tool

Oh my god. Where do I start with this pathetic apology for a paperweight? It arrived well packed in styrofoam, a wonderful sight that is flaking off into small beads everywhere. Then it was terribly dirty. Bolt holes on all sides were drilled by a lazy-eyed man on Friday while still harboring yesterday's hangover. There were sharp ridges at every corner. The base mounted to the sides of the unit has been offset slightly, leaving a nice 1/8" shelf on the side. And then they didn't even bother to

Pros
  • Easy install

  • Hard to tell

Works very well, makes money.

These wire strippers work pretty well and will most likely double your money or more in a landfill, bright copper cost me $2.50/lb yesterday versus $1.00/lb with no stripping. Could lift 30 pounds. worth it and has almost paid for itself. There is a guide plate on the inlet side with 3 holes, it is adjustable and works well for guiding the wire BUT it wasn't installed properly and had to be flipped, it was interfering with the cutter wheel, not letting it spin and feed the wire properly. After…

The thing works amazingly well!

This is the second 'automatic' wire stripper I've tried so I was skeptical after the other one turned out to be junk. I couldn't be more surprised. When I first opened the box I noticed that this thing was HEAVY as if the sturdy construction would break your leg if you dropped it hard. This boded very well for me as the latter was aluminum and felt brittle. I took it to my shop, screwed it to the bench and started filming. It took me about a minute to figure out the optimum pressure to set the…

Where has my whole life been?!

This cutter is amazing! After 15 years of recycling copper and hand stripping I'm amazed at how much easier they are to use and disappointed that it took me so long to discover them! The machine has a solid construction and is relatively easy to set up. For those who are wondering if this will work for you, I have some advice1. It takes a little time to adjust the cable entry plate to the correct height and blade depth just to cut the insulation from the wire. Don't rush this, it may take some…

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives
