Sounds like a great idea, but it didn't work for me. I first tested the meter in boiling water and it showed 211 degrees. So far, so good. Then the radiator is completely filled, the cap put on and the car warmed up. My new 180 thermostat opened up, my factory temp gauge was within range and I used an infrared sensor on the radiator face and the reading was 192. That cap/sensor just stopped at 160. I think the temp gauge on it should be longer. remain immersed in hot coolant. I'm sending it back for a refund.
