Review on πŸ“Έ Enhanced Vehicle Backup and Hitch Alignment Camera by Master Lock with 3.5 Inch Color Monitor by Robert Toomey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great camera but there are some issues.

Overall this product works well. The only major problem is that the camera is set to channel 4 and the monitor is set to channel 1. Switching the monitor to channel 4 takes about 6 seconds. I have to wait about a second between channels before I can switch to the next channel. So it takes three clicks and one second of waiting between clicks. On my device, the keys were labeled incorrectly. I understand why some people find it difficult to change channels. For the channel button, use the top button on the left side of the monitor. Sometimes the monitor remembers the channel you set it to, especially if you've been driving a car recently. Advantages: 1. The reception quality is satisfactory. I agree the picture quality is not very good but enough to see if there is something behind the car.2. It is very easy to install.3. I'm buying a washer (same as the one used to mount the GSP units to the dash) to mount the monitor in my center console area near the cup holder. Suction cup mounts are very suitable for pane mounting. Disadvantages: 1. The channel mismatch described above is the main inconvenience.2. The monitor does not turn off when the camera is turned off. It only shows white and black snow gauge. This is not a problem for me as I cover the monitor with a black shirt when not in use.3. My car needs the headlight on for the camera to work.4. The cables on the camera are of poor quality. I understand why it doesn't last long. I attach it to the trailer hitch so it doesn't move back and forth. This should help it last longer.5. The camera cable goes to the front of the camera. I don't use my hitch very often so I bought this unit to fit my 2 inch hitch receiver. I removed the two screws holding the camera to the transmitter so I could reroute the cable behind the camera. The cable runs through the rear opening of the coupler pocket and is not visible. This makes the camera less visible. After removing the screws I had a hard time putting them back in so I used wire to hold everything together instead. I recommend this product if you are content with the inconvenience of having to set channel on your monitor to 4 almost every time. I bought a PEAK wireless system for another car and this unit was great as it had no problems with different channels. Read my review of the system working flawlessly once installed. On cars with a trailer, it is more convenient to install a mounted system. In general, I deduct a star for the channel problem.

Pros
  • Easy installation of camera rails into 1.25" or 2" hitch tube for non-towing use
