I couldn't believe the smell of this rug. When it arrived we noticed a very strong horrible chemical smell but we thought it would dissipate. We laid it out in an empty space so it lay flat before installing it in our bedroom. Towards evening the smell intensified and gave us a headache. We went for dinner and when we came back we almost choked on entering the house - the smell, rather than dissipating, grew stronger the longer it stayed in our guest bedroom! We closed the room door, put the towel in the slot under the door and hoped for the best for the night. In the morning he comes out on our porch and straight back to Revane! This rug is not for sale - no matter what process is used to make it, it gives off dangerous toxic fumes! UPDATE: It's been 2 days since we removed this rug and the smell still lingers. Hopefully we can put it away when it's warm enough to open the windows. I buy Revain stuff all the time, but it bothers me that they sell something so defective and toxic. Is there supervision? The manufacturing process of this drug must have serious flaws.
