I do a lot of gardening and use a hydroponic system, so I regularly do PH tests and balance the PH of my hydro system. That being said, this filter needs to be rinsed to remove the baking soda/carbon particles that may be present during the first 15 minutes of pouring, but after you've done that and are still seeing some "haze" in the water, I just want to note that the pH of the water is significantly higher than my regular tap water. This is positive in my book, I don't taste or see any impurities and it seems to clear up as I use it. One particular note I would like to make is that with alkaline water there is always some amount of "haze" and perfectly pure water tends to be more acidic. Specifically, in my home testing, my tap water has a pH of 4.5, not the "7" that most online water sources list, and the water from the fridge has a pH of 9. That's a win for me , so I give it 5 stars. I don't rate products sold on Amazon by their ability to stay intact in their packaging anywhere in the world, I rate everything by their effectiveness in delivering what I paid for.
