Review on Bosch PCM12 Quick Change Mandrel by Chris Parrott

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The solution seeks the problem. To each their own, I wish I had returned my full set of quick change hole saws before using one.

I hate this quick change system. I bought it together with a complete set of Bosch bits with the necessary bits for each bit. The problem is that there is a lot of play where the drill bit is attached so the whole thing wobbles as you drill it, creating a really sloppy and oversized hole. I wasn't even interested in the quick change feature because think about it, when you drill a hole with a solid saw you don't increase in size like you do with regular bits, so the idea is that you change the hole often just not reality. Someone else pointed out that if you're going to be drilling a hole for the faucet and faucet handles, yes you will be using two hole saws back to back, but how often does anyone other than a sink plumber do this, and even then it's an extra 20 seconds. does it have to be wedged and reinserted, especially if the hole is defective? If you need an adapter for every whole saw anyway, you can also buy a couple of arbors for all your bits so you never take your bit off the arbor and just make a quick change like you would with any other drill bit. Essentially I feel like this is a solution looking for a problem and in that effort they are creating a new problem made up of sloppier holes.
