I lost my old desktop scanner because it became incompatible after buying a new computer. I needed one for a project where I needed to scan forms, text documents, and lab reports and combine them all into one PDF for emailing. Bought this scanner after reading the reviews and because it has two wheels. I used it the first day I got it, got it straight away and scanned 36 pages with no problems and it was fun and easy to use. It is not possible to download free OCR software that has been imported into Picasa like this and then imported into the same Word document and saved as a PDF file. It sounds complicated, but everything went pretty quickly and with good results. It is so easy to use that I think a child could easily handle it without supervision. It's not as sensitive as other scanners I've read about - I even changed the speed a few times during a scan and it just went on like nothing happened and the scan looked fine. If you save to Picasa or other photo editing software you can also crop, straighten etc if needed. I think this will be very useful in the library for scanning pages, recipes, project creation guides etc and I can do the Easily eliminate clutter in my office by scanning and organizing all the papers, prescriptions, and articles I've saved, never read or used because they're not organized. I love it and feel I really get my money's worth in using it and highly recommend it.
