Review on 🌢️ Cole & Mason 12.5-Inch Capstan Pepper Grinder in Wood Brown by Wes Thao

Works great - lots of salt.

I bought these after purchasing the Clifton set from Cole & Mason and was disappointed (DKB Household who sell Cole & Mason products in this country were very responsive and a pleasure to deal with to deal with), mainly due to the inefficiency of the grind and the poor performance of the fineness control, meaning you had to turn the grinder a lot to get a reasonable amount of salt, and the coarseness setting was almost unresponsive. But this meat grinder is just the opposite. I set it to a coarse grind with Himalayan salt, and it rains a wall of salt with every turn. I haven't tried tweaking it much, but it seems to have worked well too. The top adjustment screw will gradually loosen with use, but it's very easy to tighten just a little and that's not a problem. It will leave a little salt residue on your table or shelf if you put it down after use, but it's easy to remember to just give it a few taps to remove most of it before putting it back on the shelf. Again, this is completely unproblematic to me compared to how well this works. It's easy to fill and its size, especially the girth which determines how comfortable it is to hold and therefore easy to turn, is excellent. The wood from which it is made has a good coefficient of friction, so the hand does not slip when turning, even when wet. I assume the girth of the base and top is just right for both male and female hands. Looks good, just like in the picture. It's really nice to find a salt shaker that works so well.
