Died within a week Best in Computers & Accessories

Worked well enough for less than 7 days, successfully tested Linux and Windows compatibility. The device didn't drop the HDMI signal, so when switching between video calls/OBS I had to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable to switch from the standby signal to the camera's live signal. That being said, when I checked this in the morning 6 days after receiving the device, it wasn't responding and after plugging it back in, the device got extremely hot (much hotter than ever when running successfully). Here are the Linux dmesg messages when it was connected: [648596.965140] USB 3-1: USB deactivation device number 15 [648598.065116] USB USB3 port1: Unable to activate. Could the USB cable be defective? [648599.017181] usb usb3-port1: Unable to activate. Maybe the USB cable is defective? [648599.017300] usb usb3-port1: Attempting to power off and power off[648600.041190] usb usb3-port1: Unable to power on. Could the USB cable be defective? [648600.993217] usb usb3-port1: Unable to activate. Maybe the USB cable is defective? [648600.993313] usb usb3-port1: Error enumerating USB device. I made sure the USB port is ok by plugging in other devices. It's just that the HDMI video capture device burned out or something. , because every time I turn it on, it immediately starts to heat up.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not everything fits
