My first unit was DOA which I only found out about after spending almost a day installing it on my boat. I should have tested it before installing it. They say 20-20 in hindsight. I have contacted Norcross customer service. After exchanging a few emails, I disassembled the whole thing (display device and converter) and sent it back (at my own expense). Her turn was quick. I received a replacement within 10 days. This time I tested the replacement in my pool before installing it on my boat. It worked in my pool and works very well on my boat. First of all, I'm deducting a star for sending a defective encoder. But otherwise I'm satisfied with the performance of the replacement device.
