Review on πŸš“ Exploring with Melissa & Doug Patrol Cardboard Blocks by Chris Munns

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The picture of the observation deck is wrong!

When our son was 2 years old we got some Melissa & Doug cardboard cubes. Toddler (now 5 years old). Without Hurricane Ida, they would have held out longer. Of course we could dry them, but they did a great job so it's time to go ahead and recycle them into something else. They were still stained from the previous flood. Since I was looking for a replacement, I knew I wanted them. He loves the show, so what's better than PAW Patrol themed blocks? He already has several toy vehicles to use around town, as well as PAW Patrol, a True Metal Adventure Bay Rescue Way toy set featuring 2 exclusive 1/55 scale diecast vehicles. One parent to the other, I must warn you that at least an hour of setup is required. About 40 boxes need to be folded and assembled. Blocks are also inconvenient to store because they are so large. There's no getting around this - the blocks take up a lot of space and we're confining them to the basement. We try to find a balance between messing up our kids and exploring/enriching the spirit. I like the open play that the blocks allow. Sometimes he turns them into large, complex structures. Sometimes he likes to just break stacks. They are sometimes thrown, but because they are made of cardboard and are light enough, they usually do not harm people or objects. Our 5 year old pointed out the tower was wrong in the instructions and all the pictures. Elements of the pedestal and viewing platform are replaced. If you look at the observation deck from the show, the observation deck is all glass.
