I don't remember if the instructions were there. This was the third time since July. Catastrophe! I didn't know how much water to pour into the pan, it kept boiling away. Just put the butter on the bottom, not the sides, to help the eggs stick. I didn't know how long it would take so they were compared to hard boiled when they were done. I just never had that much trouble throwing eggs in a pot of boiling water with vinegar. Soft and fluid. And done in no time. Reading other reviews no one ever mentions how much water to pour. Next time I'll take 1 cup.
