Short version: Cool for beginners and children, but not incredibly strong. Great introduction to the night sky, especially for the price. Long version: I have to admit, I'm just getting started. But I like it. I was looking for something that 1) wasn't expensive, 2) could be used by my kids, 3) was reasonably portable. Performance - I understood that this wasn't going to be the most powerful telescope, but that didn't bother me too much. The view of the moon is great and I can see the stars a bit closer than I can with the naked eye. Price - I felt it was good value for money from the start. I didn't want to pay $200 and find out I wasn't interested. So I'm grateful it was an option. Ease of use - I wanted something I could use the way my kids would. I think it's pretty easy to use, for the most part. Sometimes it's difficult to align the star and I'm not very good at adjusting magnification, but I'm getting better. My 5 year old daughter loves it when I focus on the moon and let her look at it. I want to pique her interest and I can see that she likes it. Portability is great. I can take it off the shelf, go outside and start looking around. No big settings or anything like that. Conclusion - I like it. True, this is not the strongest. However, it has confirmed my interest and piqued my daughter's interest in astronomy. * The photo was taken with a mobile phone held to the eyepiece only.
