Review on Perfect Companion for Seasoning: MSR Alpine Salt and Pepper Shaker by Charles You

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Need to bend a bit

We bought this for one of our sons lunch box. He prefers raw vegetables with a little salt and pepper to salad dressing and cooked vegetables with a little salt and pepper. - I don't really get this pepper thing, but it's his lunch and way better than recycled dressings. So we wanted a small set of shakers that wouldn't leak inside his lunch box and then we found this combo shaker. We hoped and were glad when it arrived and it fits his fifth grader hands really well! It was very difficult to open initially, and often the entire end cap would come loose when we tried to open the valve; However, the more we played with him, the easier it became. I open the ends with my thumbnail and he opens them with his fingertip. Now it works great! Once they were curved and comfortable to use, we put some salt on one end and some pepper on the other. Probably 1/2 tsp. respectively at each end. So if he spilled it, for some reason there was nothing to spill. Plus, just in case some sodium-starved roommate lends it to us, there's not much left for them and we don't get yelled at by some Nazi parent. (Looks like they have a stranglehold on the schools now!) Our 5th grader finds this salt and pepper shaker easy to use, hasn't had any accidents, and enjoys his food the way he likes it! What more could you want from a salt and pepper shaker? We deducted 1 star because it was very tight and instructions on how to flex the lids (open and close multiple times) would be a nice courtesy for (us) the customer. With this simple improvement, we would rate it 5 stars. We absolutely recommend this salt and pepper shaker - with the flexibility recommendation of course - and hope you find our review helpful!
