First of all, this review is for a 1 inch birch dowel. These are very good dowels - virtually free of defects (e.g. knots, cracks etc) and sanded very smooth - much better quality than hardware stores. However, note that this is a natural product and as such they are not perfectly straight at 36 inches. Some of them can sag about 1/4 inch at this length. Thing is, when the pins are milled they'll probably be perfectly straight, but the wood, being a tree, will relax and react to humidity and air temperature, both of which will cause it to bend a bit after milling - it really doesn't work. away. I have worked with wood for 35 years and it is extremely rare to find a perfectly straight dowel. If you really need a straight line, buy some extras. So you can use the most direct of the series.
