The greatest burger recipes on the internet all call for using a spatula (you can find them pretty cheap at your local hardware store) which works great unless you care high quality metal that will come into contact with your food (can anyone tell if it's lead poisoning?). This burger chopper is perfect because it makes it fairly easy to apply consistent force to the hamburger and for the most part saves your hands from burns/oil splatters. After a few weeks of use the stainless steel is still in great condition and given its durability I expect it to last a long time. I had a little trouble with hamburgers sticking to the crusher at first, but that wasn't a problem with the smasher and much more a problem with my technique (because before this smasher, I used to stick the hamburger to whatever I pressed to push it down) . The important thing is to hold it down for a few seconds to really allow the burger to stick to your cooktop, and then it should be relatively easy to remove the grinder.
