Review on Super Naturals Aquarium Sand: 20-Pound Bag in Stunning Sunset Gold Shade - Ideal for Aquatic Environments! by Chelsea Hernandez

Rinse this sand before use.

I bought the golden sunset color and it's a beautiful sand. It's bright enough to brighten up an aquarium but not bright white which would stress my betta. The sand arrived dry, I still don't know how it was supposed to arrive. Since the side of the package was torn when it arrived I couldn't turn the package over and see if I should rinse it out or not. I went ahead and used it without rinsing which was a mistake. I ended up with a very cloudy tank and a filter that had to work overtime to clear at least half the water. It's been 2 weeks and my tank is still a little cloudy. Come and find out the sand is a little dirty. If you get that sand, wash it, I can't stress this enough, wash it. Put sand in a clean bucket and fill the bucket no more than half, take it outside, turn on the hose to keep the water from flowing too fast, and put the hose in the sand, leave the water flow out bucket. Remove the hose for a few minutes and gently drain the water from the sand, then put the hose back into the sand and rinse the sand again, then remove the hose again and drain the water. Do this over and over again until the water in the bucket runs clear. Rinse the sand off a few more times at this point. At the same time, it must be clean enough so that it can be placed in an aquarium and the water does not become cloudy. I made this with the leftover sand that I use in my smaller aquarium.
