Review on ASUS VivoBook Processor Fingerprint S513IA DB51 by Wesley Carreras

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really good for the price and for Linux

The Vivobook 15 is often compared and contrasted to the Acer Aspire 5. In my opinion, the Vivobook is a much better choice! The Aspire looks good and performs decently, and the screen is great for the price. But inside it feels very cheap as the battery is not attached at all. And the RAM expansion slot in what I got didn't work and Acer tech support was utterly useless. I returned it. In contrast, the Vivobook feels pretty solid, almost aluminum-like even if it's plastic, and feels like it's from the inside. not premium, but decent. And installing RAM (and replacing the SSD) went smoothly. Great BIOS, best I've seen. Mine *really* came with a 2.5" HDD expansion bay and connector in the box, which is nice. I'm using Linux (openSUSE Tumbleweed) on it and it works fine. Just boot into the BIOS and disable Secure Boot and Fast Startup. Then reboot using a USB flash drive with your chosen distribution's installer. I think the Aspire has a slightly better screen. But the VivoBook's screen is still good for the price; not the most colorful, but brightness is reasonable and text and images are crisp and clear. Very happy with my purchase!
