So far so good in TV and video

Bought as an upgrade to a s905X with 2GB RAM. It's certainly faster. The Android version actually looks like 9.0 as advertised. Like many of these devices, this is the tablet version of Android, not Android TV. Considering most major streaming services require special DRM software to use the Android TV version of their apps, which the tablet version doesn't require, this is a good thing. It also means you'll see a lot more apps to choose from in the Store. That's another plus, Google Play services are already installed here. Side loading is possible by default but not required. Also note that the file system is not formatted for multiple application partitions. I've seen this a few times and it basically makes it impossible to install apps that use all available storage. While it should be obvious, the fact that it's done right is very good. The board works perfectly. I love that it looks the same as the Roku remote and think that's a good thing since the kids know very well how to operate one of them. .264 and H.265 video from a USB3 flash drive. No problem with those using VLC as my player. The built-in movie player didn't like the audio stream in the videos I tested. I've also tested the emulation a bit and the N64 and PS1 games work perfectly, but with so much power it's no surprise.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Good mostly but...
