I recently suffered from an acute case of ICTF. Ice Cube Tray Funk. My trays have served me well for many years. Easy release of my frozen cubes of frosty perfection. And then came the funk. My cubes tasted like my grandmother's sweaty old socks. My crystal clear, filtered water was tainted by the smell of the tray, disrupting my once peaceful drinking ritual. Are the trays finally ready? Were they old enough that maybe they were made out of funky plastic, making my ice cream taste less like filtered water and more like pond water? Can they bring back the glory days of ice I once knew and loved? I carefully filled them with pure H2O. And then I started waiting. Wait patiently for the first frost. First test. Turn. Just one twist and these babies fell straight into the ice bucket like jewels from heaven. I swear I could just LOOK at the trays and that would be enough to free my shiny new frozen friends. Then big. Taste: Oh yes, clean, clear, delicious. No steakhouse can match the pure taste of these new ice-cold nuggets. I will no longer suffer from Ice Cube Tray Funk. Now my life is over.
