The problem with these tongs is the spring tension. The first one I got had no spring tension at all. MALFUNCTION. I sent them back via Revain and received another pair 3 days later. The spring tension is very weak, to say the least. They don't "open" as quickly as shorter tweezers. I needed these longer tongs so I wouldn't burn myself moving the charcoal and wood around my smoker's firebox. It probably won't even take a year for the spring tension to go away. However, American ingenuity is working to create and replace a spring of my own design and make these pliers great. Material and construction of the pliers are very good except for the spring tension. If you can't repair this item yourself, don't waste your money.
