I think overall this is a very strong gate that works well once installed. I will warn you that this is incredibly difficult to install (for me personally, although I find myself quite handy around the house). I had to uninstall/reinstall many times over the course of about 2 hours before closing the gate completely. I couldn't find any "tips" or "troubleshooting" on the web, so I'm sharing these tips: Make sure the extension pins are inserted in the correct direction (one side is longer than the other). Even if you think you've screwed the mounting brackets all the way in and the gate isn't closing completely, push the screws in further to see if the threads are engaged. I often felt like I screwed them all the way in, then wiggled the latch, the bracket would come loose, and I could tighten the screws a little more. It might have been more difficult because I also used spacers to protect the walls, that's all. I would buy them again though as they are really very strong and overall great goals and I grudgingly have to agree that all the effort was worth it.
