Serrated edges for pulling out yarn

I bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter who is a professional knitter. It was more of a cool gift that I stumbled upon as their demand for something like that is too high. However, I expected the working parts that come in contact with the yarn to be as smooth and polished as everything else, like the bowl. What I have left is, in the interest of saving time, use a small stick of sandpaper to wrap it around to get a smooth edge. It's not just rough where the yarn runs through the curl,
