I ordered an updated stronger version and it works great! I use my laptop on the couch and this works great for fine tuning the angle I wanted for the laptop and keeping it stable on the soft parts of the couch. I liked that this model is wider than the others as I have a 17 inch screen and I'm a tall guy so it's nice to have legroom. The fan is very quiet like I forgot it was plugged in quietly and it works great. I would assume that the mechanical parts that adjust the legs would wear out if adjusted regularly, otherwise I'd say they should last a long time. I tilted the base of the laptop towards me to get a better look at the keyboard in low light and it started to slide over the edge a bit. There are no clips to hold the laptop in place. I had a sheet of non-slip silicone that I use to keep it from moving. This may not be a problem at all for most users. The mouse pad is durable enough for regular use. It only mounts in one spot with one screw so it's not very easy to adjust, but it seems positioned well enough. In general I am very satisfied.
