This scraper is unique in that it features a hard rubber tip rather than a plastic one. I was bought with this since I didn't want to rub the glass in the conventional manner using a regular plastic scraper. Because of this, the scraper really struggles to remove even a thin layer of ice from the glass and only starts to work properly once the ice starts to melt due to heat from the fire. In actuality, it drives the water like regular rubber rather than an ice scraper. When the windows warm up, the gadget is completely useless because it is no longer required. You can either use a standard snow brush or the wiper brushes to remove the melted ice.
