Plug and play for Linux Mint 18.1 and almost certainly for earlier versions. I laugh when I remember how much time I spent trying to get Realtek sound to work on my motherboard. All I needed was $6.99 to get this key. I'm using "Pulse Audio", so the volume script from the batch file goes like this: $ pactl set-sink-volume 9 -5% # reduces volume by 5%, also accepts +10%, 20dB, 50% or a multiplier, for example 1.1. The number 9 was obtained by typing "package list" and searching for "USB audio device". In my case it was listed as "Sink #9". Sound quality is "good" but you can find better. Some test reports also complain about the weak microphone input. Didn't try. Ideal for me.
