Review on Bernat Baby Velvet Yarn Bunny Brown by Kim Sanchez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Easy to crochet but sheds a lot

I used several colors and variations of Bernat, just one blanket. So I love how soft it is and how easy it is to use in crochet, but I'll tell you it's not for kids projects, while I'm crocheting it sheds like nothing else. It gets up my nose and in my eyes as I work with it, but only velvet doesn't do that. What I have noticed about Bernat products is that they are not consistent in quality. So, for example, sand-colored yarn for a baby blanket will have the same thickness, and the product will be smaller than, say, vanilla or the same series, where a grease stain will be visible throughout the thread when working. Thankfully, a baby blanket almost never flies off when you're working with it, unless you pull a piece out with your nails. But I need finer yarn for other baby projects and unfortunately I have bought so many of this baby velvet yarn in different colors that I have to work with it somehow but I am disappointed and can't see how nobody has said anything about this yarn shedding so much . A baby who puts everything in his mouth, and parents will not be happy with the purchase of such a trifle. And I don't feel comfortable putting a child at risk of getting it in their eyes or inhaling a piece of it.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
