Review on πŸš— Belkin F7U017bt Car Vent Mount: Securely Holds Smartphones Up to 5.5 inches, in Sleek Black and Silver Design by Doug Darling

Good quality but awkward to use

I had high hopes for this car phone holder. My previous car mount was a small profiled magnetic mount which I really liked. However, I recently got a new phone that supports wireless charging. With wireless charging, I can no longer wear a metal plate on the back of my phone as it interferes with wireless charging. So I had to find a new car mount that wasn't magnetic. It took me a while to find a new car fan holder. I wanted something that wasn't magnetic but small enough not to take up much dashboard space. I didn't want a hickey on the dash or windshield, and certainly not with a massive phone stand. I stumbled across this vent mount from Belkin, which appeared slim and had two retractable handles to hold the phone in place. It's still larger than my small magnetic vent mount, but it was the smallest profile vent mount that didn't rely on magnets that I could find. The grip and rubberized grip hold the phone securely in place. My main complaint is that it's quite difficult to get the phone in and out. Bracket won't stay on vent - as soon as you try to put the phone down by spreading the retractable handles, the bracket will move over the vent and won't stay in place. The same goes for picking up the phone. This requires two-handed work, using one hand to hold the mount in place while sliding your phone into the mount. When you take out the phone, you must also hold the holder with your other hand, otherwise it will either detach from the vent or move. Maybe it's an issue with the vent design on my machine, I don't know. Overall, while the holder looked good and had solid build quality, there was no ease of use. Plugging and unplugging your phone every day is too much of a hassle to be worth it. I ended up sending this holder back.
