Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Irwin Hanson 16 18NC Hexagon Machine: Powerful Precision in Every Turn! by Jerimiah Augustine

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you make stainless steel use these

I have 9427 and 6527. They are both marked Hanson. There is no Irwin mark on the stamp itself. If you took them both out and out of the bag and now you don't know which is which, then after "5/16-18" my 9427 says "NC" but 6527 doesn't. Only they look the same. This comes in nice packaging, 6527 just in a plastic bag. This one is more than double the price! Does the packaging justify twice the price? In fact, the packaging is a little difference. The two matrices are completely different when it comes to getting the job done. The cheap one dulled after threading less than 1/4 inch of high quality stainless steel. Darling cut off the other 2 inches and it's still alive, although you might feel like it's worn out now. It still works great on mild steel but is a little dull on clean stainless steel threads. If you want to clean smooth or stainless steel threads, get the cheap one to save money. If you need to cut new mild steel thread, again go cheap. If you need to cut a lot of new threads, or more importantly you need to cut new stainless steel threads, make sure you buy an expensive one or you will regret it. And don't forget the cutting oil. Without them, a new stainless steel thread is unthinkable!
