Eliminates the need to think too much about sharpening. Although not recommended, a child as young as three can use it.
Brilliant design. Well made, albeit made of plastic. Suitable for beginners or experts. Take off in the wind. I have found that I use this more and my sharpener a little less; not that I would get rid of one or the other. They fit and are designed for Japanese style knives and your European wedges are unlikely to be happy with this device. The angle of the whetstones is wrong on many European-style knives. ****Update 2 years later: I have noticed that even with the utmost care these stones leave scratches parallel to the knife blade (see image). I have a full set of global whetstones and will return to this difficult path. My heart is broken because of the scratches on my expensive knives!
