Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Home Office Document Scanner: Canon imageFormula DR-C225 for Enhanced Performance in Scanning by Tay Fair

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty good scanner, bad software, documentation and something else.

I am generally happy with the quality of the scans and that they scan both sides at the same time. What I don't like: 1. The scanning software, although varied by integrating other products (Pro), seems to have been written by a very young developer. They obviously don't know how to write windows apps in terms of clear dialogs/settings, app readability or that windows can have different screen resolutions. App size is tiny on my laptop with 3000x2000 resolution on my surface book, options settings dialog for each integration app stays tiny, no keyboard shortcuts and standard windows dialogs (no X to close, cannot be resized , cannot be moved from the main application). Given the cost of the scanner, I would expect the software to be developed using the appropriate standard by someone with 10+ years of development experience.2. The documentation was clearly an afterthought. Supposedly written by someone who was ill when the assignments were done and unhappy when they found out they had to write it. Not all controls are documented, there is no troubleshooting, and while they talk about direct injection, they don't say how to set it up.3. Although the feeder states that 30 sheets can be loaded in the feeder, this often causes two problems: the scanned document tray fills haphazardly and can stall scanning; and feed extenders are not long enough if you have all 30 sheets of standard or legal size paper. It's the little things that make this printer a little tricky. See the attached photo for one of the key dialogues.
