Scanner frustration

I had problems as soon as I used the scanner with Windows 8. Coming from a technical background, I knew how to troubleshoot. I installed the software for the Canon DR-C 225 II scanner. When I try to run the scan, I get an error message that the device cannot be locked. Make sure no other app is using the 4630 device. I checked for a conflict through Device Manager and checked for a software update, but there was none. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and also removed the USB and…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • I'm worried

This is a very smart little device and I highly recommend it. I would give 5 stars except the paper feed can be a bit trickier than my old Fujitsu ScanSnap and even now when I open a scanned document it seems that multiple programs need to be activated to open the document, so each one Sometimes it takes longer. I open the ones I scanned. For example, with paper feeding: it can scan a page, but the device will stop at the end of the page with a "double feed" error if the paper has jagged edges,

Seller sent another model - not DR-c225

I ordered a DR-C225 and received a different model - a newer model DR-cc225II However, the new model is not as durable and high quality as the previous one Original (we have 2 in our DR-C225 office machine and we are very happy with them). The front panel does not close tightly like the original device. I bought it to work on my Mac laptop in the new office we are renovating. I notified the seller that I received the wrong model and they said it would work with my Mac, so I didn't return it. I…

Great hardware and software

I use this to digitize my life - 1980's tax returns, house rents, annual accounts etc! It was easy to install - I'm using Windows 10 and was up and running in about an hour. I created about 10,000 pages with very few issues - staples, wrinkled paper and the like - all things that I had to fix before I could start scanning. The program is great - I scan to PDFs stored on my desktop, then rename and transfer to permanent storage - I keep multiple copies - online, in the cloud and on USB sticks…

I mainly use it for storing documents like bills and payslips

I've had it for a few weeks and scanned at least 200 pages. I mainly use it to store documents like invoices and payslips. I've sent some stuff and odd shaped stuff that I send to the utility with checks and as long as you download the attached part first it scans just fine. Page speed is impressive, with a stack of 35 pages ready in less than a minute. (I didn't time it properly, so sue me) The included software allows you to create shortcuts on your computer's desktop to indicate whether the…

Cons
  • Some little things

I am generally happy with the quality of the scans and that they scan both sides at the same time. What I don't like: 1. The scanning software, although varied by integrating other products (Pro), seems to have been written by a very young developer. They obviously don't know how to write windows apps in terms of clear dialogs/settings, app readability or that windows can have different screen resolutions. App size is tiny on my laptop with 3000x2000 resolution on my surface book, options…

Great scanner

Great hardware. I've scanned folded and crumpled letter and legal documents, as well as various paper sizes and cards like driver's licenses and business cards. Everything scans well and quickly with little jam. The software is good. I already had Paperport 14 so I skipped it. Canon's Capture on Touch is pretty good once you get the hang of it and set up the right profiles. You can set it up to create a separate PDF for each page, or all pages in a single PDF, color, black and white, grayscale,
