Review on Compatible 2007 2014 Silverado Suburban Avalanche by Jonathan Cartwright

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Took 35 minutes, good for body and trim

Only took 35 minutes. It seemed much longer to me because mosquitoes were attacking me all the time. Hopefully it doesn't rust as it isn't painted like the original but looks galvanized. It might have been a good idea to mark the original position of the hinge before removing it, I had to line it up about 4 times. The screws have to be removed in a specific order to access it, so this took longer than I expected. The two bolts that go into the door are screwed in first, jacking up the door, then the top two hinges, followed by the sash and bottom hinge bolt. I ended up rotating the pivot counter-clockwise about 1/8 inch to get the correct spacing. The screw that goes into the fender was the last one I tightened and everything lined up correctly (the fender and door lines were the same). Generally excellent. We used to be able to get just a set of pins and gaskets, replacing the entire hinge is much easier and for some reason even cheaper.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
