Review on 🚴 2-Pack Continental Grand Prix 5000 Bike Tires by Josh Koa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perspective tubeless tires

Before I switched to tubeless about 5 years ago, I only rode GP4000/s. The main difficulty for me with tubeless tires was finding a consistently reliable tire with adequate ride and handling. When I heard that Conti not only makes the 5000 series, but that there would be a tubeless version, I realized I had finally won the bike by constantly sacrificing tubeless tires and releasing orange shiny blood. gods. I've put about 150 miles on it so can't really comment on the setup and ride. More kilometers are needed to properly assess durability and handling. They were more difficult to mount to the rim than the various Hutchinson models I've used in the past, but of course your experience will depend on which rim you use. Once installed, the bead seated easily and was airtight even before the sealant was added. The ride is comfortable, similar to the GP4000S I suppose (I haven't ridden with cameras in a while so it's hard to compare). They're not as tasteless as the Schwalbe Pro One, but that's okay. I've cut through two sets of Pro One tires in under 500 miles each and experienced inconsistent durability from Hutchinson (Fusion, Atom, Sector). I hope they prove to be the best balance between performance and durability. more miles to rate them - or any glitches - I'll update the rating accordingly. But so far so good.

  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
